In April 2015 the Domestic Client exemption allowed under the previous CDM 2007 Regulations ended.
Domestic Clients now have to take more responsibility for how the Health & Safety of any workers on their projects is managed.
For Clarity, a domestic client is any individual who has construction work carried out on their home, or the home of a family member, that is not done as part of any business.

The rules are far more stringent for Commercial Clients and the CDM 2015 Regulations apply to them in full. They must obey all of the regulations on pain of a fine at the least. If anybody is injured or even, perish the thought, dies on site; they may face prosecution and imprisonment.
